267 Stufen zählt der direkte Weg auf den dunkelgrauen Schotter-„Mond“. Kein Baum, kein Strauch ist auf dem ellipsenförmig angelegten Haldenplateau zu finden, während der Weg hinauf von postindustriellem, lebendigem Grün begleitet wird. Die Leere hat Konzept. Der Blick kann frei in alle Himmelsrichtungen schweifen, bleibt zwangsläufig am exakten Mittelpunkt des „Gipfels“ hängen: der „Bramme für das Ruhrgebiet“ des US-amerikanischen Künstlers Richard Serra. Beinahe 15 Meter hoch, rund 70 Tonnen schwer und über 13 Meter tief im Boden. Eine steil aufragende Landmarke als sichtbares Zeichen des Strukturwandels.
The direct path up to the dark grey gravel “moon” has 267 steps. Not a tree, not a shrub can be found on the elliptical tip plateau, while the way up is accompanied by post-industrial, living greenery. The emptiness has a concept. The gaze is free to roam in all directions, inevitably getting stuck at the exact centre of the “summit”: the “Slab for the Ruhr” by US artist Richard Serra. Almost 15 metres high, weighing around 70 tonnes and over 13 metres deep in the ground. A steeply rising landmark as a visible sign of structural change.
